Clevedon was named in the 13th century by the 'de Clevedon' family, who built Clevedon Court.
The modern day town, which retains many historical features, is spread out over two main levels. Lower Clevedon, where The Triangle is centrally placed...and Upper Clevedon, where Hill Road is perhaps the main focus. The sea front actually manages to link these area together.
The town offers long-striding walks beside river banks, strolls around the hills and along the sea front, rambles through neighbouring woodland and cycle rides along the sea wall and to visit nearby Yatton, Portishead and Kingston Seymour.
The Triangle.
*The Clock Tower was a gift to the town by Sir Edmund Harry Elton to celebrate Queen Victoria's Jubilee. It was completed in 1898.

The Curzon
From the top of Dial Hill, the highest point in Clevedon, it is possible to see over the rest of North Somerset, a long way down the Bristol Channel and over to the mountains of South Wales. Just below the hilltop, a natural shelf has enabled the creation of a playing area, which in summer months is occupied by the activities of Clevedon Cricket Club. In the far background are the Mendip Hills.
Clevedon View
A wide angled view over Clevedon, towards Poets Walk upon Wains Hill above the Salthouse Fields. This photo was probably taken from the top of the Zig-zag path that leads from Hill Road to the Dial Hill area.
In the distance are seen Brean Down and the islands of Flatholm and Steepholm.
